Misunderstanding about tooth extraction

Clinically, we often encounter such patients. One of their teeth needs to be pulled out immediately for various reasons, but they are unwilling to pull out because they are particularly afraid of tooth extraction and various misunderstandings and prejudices about tooth extraction, or they have teeth that should not be pulled out. What are these misunderstandings and prejudices we often encounter?

Pull out a tooth and loosen a large area

After tooth extraction (except wisdom teeth), tooth inlay shall be carried out within half a year. If dentures are not made for more than half a year, the adjacent teeth will tilt to the missing tooth space and the opposite teeth will elongate. It is believed that tooth extraction will lead to the loosening of the surrounding teeth. The reason is that after tooth extraction, the missing teeth are not repaired in time or inappropriate repair methods are used, which makes the surrounding teeth not conducive to cleaning or form a sanitary dead corner, leading to the occurrence and development of periodontitis and loosening.

Pulling out wisdom teeth will make the front teeth fall back and loose

Generally speaking, our teeth move forward all our life, and the extraction of wisdom teeth at the end of the dentition will not loosen the front teeth.

My teeth are bad. I'll have them all pulled out

The more teeth can be preserved in the mouth, even the root (retaining a residual root with intact periodontal ligament can maintain the physiological stimulation to alveolar bone, prevent alveolar bone atrophy and delay aging), the less difficult it is to repair missing teeth, and the better the repair effect. The World Health Organization (who) put forward the "8020 plan" in 2008, that is, 20 real teeth that can chew normally should be retained at the age of 80.

Tooth extraction hurts. Let it fall out by itself

Generally speaking, now anesthesia can achieve a good whole process analgesic effect, and even the anesthetic itself can be basically painless. You can safely extract your teeth. Keeping a tooth that needs to be extracted in the mouth will bring us many potential dangers. The affected teeth may not be used due to pain, chewing on one side, walking on one leg, causing facial asymmetry, causing mandibular joint discomfort, and even joint damage in severe cases; Other teeth on the affected side are also damaged (chewing has self-cleaning effect, and the unused side often has poor oral hygiene). If the alveolar bone of the affected tooth is absorbed more than 2 / 3 of the root length and is not removed in time, the alveolar bone will be further absorbed and lost, which is not conducive to later repair.

If the teeth are painful and loose, they will be pulled out once and for all

The pain and looseness of teeth can be caused by many factors. Generally, they can be preserved through the treatment of symptomatic teeth, periodontal and even inlay. Tooth extraction is only one of the ways to treat sick teeth. Generally speaking, tooth extraction is needed unless the root is rotten or the alveolar bone absorption of the affected tooth is more than 2 / 3 of the root length. After tooth extraction, it will cause a series of reactions, such as loss of masticatory function, displacement of adjacent teeth, aesthetic defects and so on.

Tooth extraction is bad for the brain and makes people stupid

Teeth grow in the alveolar bone and are far away from the brain. The dental nerve is also the terminal nerve of the fifth pair of brain nerve and trigeminal nerve. Tooth extraction has no effect on the brain.

Do not pull out your teeth at noon, otherwise there will be more blood flow

During the day, people's blood pressure is high or low, which is higher at noon. However, generally speaking, finding an experienced doctor to extract teeth has little damage. There is no need to worry about bleeding, and even if there is a doctor, it can stop bleeding immediately.

However, for some patients, it is good to choose a time for tooth extraction. For example, after hemodialysis, kidney washing patients must have an interval of 6 hours before tooth extraction, because the anticoagulant used during kidney washing will affect the hemostasis after tooth extraction, so they must wait until the efficacy has subsided before tooth extraction.
